Friday's thoughts - 28.03.2014

Hi everyone

I hope you are all great.

This week has been manic. We have been really busy at work, my son has had Conjunctivitis, and I have caught something that has mad me lose my voice, so it's good job I type instead of video chatting.

I don't know if it is Pharyngitis or Laryngitis, but I have had some bumps on the back of my throat wall and there quite red. My throat is not sore but just achy in a way. I'll take some paracetamol and see how I get on. I have never lost my voice before. :(

It's mothering Sunday this weekend. What have you all got planned?

My husband has brought me some new clip in hair extensions from Amazon, now my hair is brown again. I was going to lighten my other extension that are a shade of deep red, but I thought I may go back Red at some point in the future, you never know with me.

These are Remy Human Hair Clip In Extension and they are 15 inches and in the shade (Ash Brown).

I haven't tried them in yet, as I won't be getting them until Sunday, so I hoping they will be a close shade to my hair. If not I'll either change my hair to match them or I will darken the extension if they are a lighter shade. They might even blend well with what I have got, so once I have them I will take some pictures and post them on my blog, so you can all see.

My 4 year old son has got me a tiny handbag from Tesco, that I'm into at the moment. It's in the sale from
Tesco from £10 to £7.

It's not available online anymore, but I'm sure if any of you fancy this bag then get yourself into you local Tesco and see if you can pick one up. There were two left when I got mine. Again after Sunday I will take a picture of it on my shoulder, so you can see hoe nice it is.

Well that's it for today. I hope all you mothers out there have a wonderful mother's day and you get spoilt.

Speak soon and have a good weekend, Oh and we turn the clocks forward this weekend, how this year is flying by. It will soon be Christmas before we know it.

Navy Lace Evening Dress (Nude)

Hi everyone!

In May this year myself, my husband and his parents have got at special evening event/dinner to attend, with dancing afterwards, and I would love to get a special evening dress.

I'm not one for wearing dresses, apart from summer maxi dresses. The last time I wore a special dress was on my wedding day which was nearly 9 years ago.

I've been looking everywhere for a dress, I've tried dresses on and took them straight back off again, as they didn't fit right or I would just not feel comfortable in it.

I went on the internet this morning and fell in love straight away.

This dress is from TK Maxx, it's priced at £59.99, which for this type of dress I think is so reasonably priced. Dresses that I have seen on the internet can go up to hundreds of pounds, which I won't pay.

I absolutely love navy and nude colours together, they are one of my favourites as well as tan and navy.

I wouldn't wear a necklace with this, as the neckline comes quite high, so I would just wear a nice pair of earrings and bracelet and match the dress with a nude of navy clutch bag and some nude/navy shoes, which I am yet to find.

I think if I order this I will need to get some shape wear underpants to tuck me in a little.

Let me know what you think.

How to get rid of Milia (White bumps around eyelids)

Hi guys!

I hope you are all ok.

I've always wanted to do eye make-up looks, but have been putting off doing it because of what appears around my eyes.

I have what is known as Milia.

Milia are small raised bumps on the skin. It is a type of skin cyst that is filled with a protein called Keratin.

They are normally found in clumps together, like mine are. They can appear as pearly-white or yellowish bumps, mine are like white milk spots.

They are mostly seen on the skin around the cheeks, nose, eyes, eyelids, forehead and chest, but can appear anywhere on the body.

Normally they clear by themselves, but I have had mine pretty much all my life. They don't hurt at all and at certain times they do seem to get bigger then go back down again. They just don't look nice to look at in my opinion.

The treatments that are available for Milia removal are:

  • Cryotherapy (a treatment that freezes skin lesions - a skin lesion is where a patch of skin has changed in appearance).
  • Laser Treatment.
  • Dermabrasion (a procedure that removes the top layer of affected skin).
  • Chemical Peeling.
I really don't fancy any of these, especially around my eyes. I have been meaning to go and see a GP and see what they say.

But for now I think I may try and use a hard exfoliating scrub and see if they fall off, or at least shrink in size.

If anyone else has this and have found an effective home treatment, then please do let me know.

Speak soon.

Holistic Healing - Salt Lamps

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all well.

I suffer a lot with my sinuses. I'm pretty much constantly congested and have mucus running down the back of my throat.  It's awful to talk about and I know it's not nice to listen to either, but I'm sure quite a lot of you suffer with it too.

I have been to the doctors about it, and they have said it could be a number of things from, viral (cold), (allergies) hay fever, to food intolerance's.

I have been to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist who told me that it could be an intolerance to dairy products. I've read that dairy can thicken mucus. They told me to cut out all dairy products for a couple of months to see if it helps, that's easier said than done, as I love dairy stuff.

I've had all type of things from nasal sprays to antihistamines, which I take on a regular basis to see if it allergy related but nothing seems to be working. I rinse my sinuses out with a mixture of sea salt, bicarbonate of soda and sugar which the NHS in the UK gave me a recipe, to do it myself.

I have seen these lamps, which are supposed to help with a number of problems.

I read this information about them:

Himalayan salt lamps are made from salt crystal rocks formed 100's of million of years ago in the foothills of the Himalayas. They are carefully crafted by hand to retain the unique, beautiful natural shape of the rock. The crystal is said to naturally ionise the air and the glow beautifies any room. It's hydroscopic properties is said to help reduce airborne pollutants so helping people who suffer with asthma and allergies.

They have been know to give relief to hay fever sufferers, sinus problems, allergies, asthma attacks and respiratory disorders. They are suitable for daily use near televisions and computers, around smokers and in offices. They restore or preserve the natural air quality.

My parents in law have got one for their home office, and they have said they have notice a difference in not getting so many headaches and they don't feel so stressed with work.

I think i might purchase one to see if with help my sinus problems, who know it could be an alternative to taking medication.

I'm going to order my salt lamp from Amazon.

If any of you have used one of these lamps, or are using one, please let me know what you think of them. I would love to hear you view on them.

General TAG questions

Hi everyone

I have been searching for some tag questions to answer as people do on you tube and I enjoy hearing or reading them.
I've looked around the internet and came across these, so I thought I would answer some for a bit of fun.

These are a general list of questions, I might try and find some beauty tag questions to answer.

Q: Do you have any pets?

Yes, I/We have two cats, one is black called Hollie and one tabby called Junior, also a dog called Cassie. Our furs babies.

Q: Name 3 things that are physically close to you?

Well at this very moment physically are my two cats and dog.

Q: What's the weather like right now?

So windy, but the sun is shining.

Q: Do you drive? If so, have you crashed?

Yes I drive. I have been involved in 3 crashes. The first was my fault, I tried to overtake a articulated lorry and his front end took out my back end. To this day, I'm sure he sped up lol. The second was not my fault, as a stupid man didn't look and pulled straight out of a side street, straight into me and wrote off my car. The final and third one was a couple of years ago. A man had apparently taken some flu/cold medication and fell asleep at the wheel, and drove head on into us and demolished our car. Our boy was only 2, he was so scared.

Q: What time did you wake up this morning?

Q: What was the last time you showered?

7.15am this morning, really early (yarn)

Q: What was the last movie you saw?

Oblivion, not that good in my opinion. Not a Tom Cruise fan.

Q: What does your last text message say?

The one I sent was " I'm walking down now, we'll wait for you" That was sent to a woman from school, her son is also in my sons class and we met to take the children over the park.
The one I received was " Be there shortly" from the woman who I was meeting.

Q: Whats your ringtone?

My ringtone is a theme song from one of my favorite TV shows, The Vampire Diaries - Cut by Plumb

Q: Have you ever been to a different country?

Yes, we have been to Lanzarote, Cyprus and Spain.

Q: Do you like Sushi?

I have never tried it, but I really do fancy it at some point.

Q: Where do you but your groceries?

Aldi and Sainsburys, as they are next door to each other and just down the road from us. We have saved so much money through shopping at Aldi.

Q: Have you ever taken medication to help you fall asleep?

No, I find a nice glass of wine or a gin and tonic helps wonders. Only if your at the right age to drink of course. I don't encourage under age drinking.

Q: Do you have any siblings?

Yes, I have a younger brother and sister. My brother is 14 months younger and my sister is 10 years younger. I know a big age gap.

Q: When was the last time you cried?

I can't quite remember the last time I proper cried, but I shed a little tear if I see something on TV that normally gets a lump in throat.

Q: What is your perfect pizza topping?

Texan Barbecue. Yum Yum!

Q: Which do you prefer Hamburgers or Cheeseburgers?

It would have to be Cheeseburgers, as I love Quarter Pounders with cheese.

Q: Have you ever had an all nighter?

Yes, when I was at school we all took part in a 24 hours stay away, I was ill. I felt sick and started shaking because I was so so tired. Wouldn't do it again.

Jobaz Hair Colour Remover Review (Max Strength)

Hi guys!

I hope you are all well.

I just wanted to give a quick review of the hair colour remover that I've recently purchased and used as you will see in my previous post.

  1. It was really simple to use.
  2. It combed through quite easily through my hair.
  3. It didn't feel uncomfortable or irritate my scalp.
  4. It definitely removed the unwanted hair colour away.
  1. It smelt like burnt hair whilst applying it.
  2. It smelt like rotten eggs once it was warming up with the cling film on.
  3. The rinsing stage takes quite a while to do, using the buffer twice, rinsing for 10 minutes etc. But I suppose you have to do these things if you want them to work.
  4. You may not end up with your natural hair colour if you have bleached it before colouring. It will turn a brassy orange. It suggests on the box to cover with a semi ash colour, which I did.

Overall I would use this again if I ever decide to dye my hair another weird colour. BIG thumbs up for this product.

Gone with the Red

Hi guys!

In my previous post, I mentioned I was going to try and strip my hair of this Red colour. I have done it and so easily as well.

I brought the Jo Baz Hair Remover in Max strength from Amazon. I was a bit sceptical about whether it would work or not, but I was very shocked, surprised and pleased.

Below are some pictures of stages as I was doing it.

The hair remover, people said that it smelt like eggs. I noticed only a slight smell whilst applying it to my hair, it smelt like burning hair. Once I put the cling-film on and it started to warm up, OMG! what a stink.

I went downstairs to show my husband, and he started retching because of the smell. It was like I had boiled a load of eggs and mashed them all up.

This was the colour of my hair a day before I put the colour remover on.
The colour remover on my bathroom floor

A lovely cling film hair wrap.
Peanut butter hair mask comes to mind
It look quite blonde once it was washed off

Not sure whether I like this look. Excuse to green t-shirt, it's my hair dying shirt,
Everyone has one.
In some natural day light.

It has definitely taken the Red out of my hair.

I order this Nice "n" Easy Semi Permanent hair dye (75. Light Ash Brown) as well
to put on top of the brassy colour.
This is the finished look. It will fade eventually to a light brown, so I will take a couple of
pictures then.
I hope you all like this, and hopefully this gives you an idea of how it has worked for me, if you are thinking of using this.
