Tuesdays Tip - How to care for your hair.

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all in tip top shape for a Tuesday.

I wanted to start doing a Tip Tuesday every week, so if i hear of any tips about beauty, hair etc, i would love to share it with you, as i love to hear tips from others.

Tuesday tip for today is on how to look after your hair, which i have been practising myself as i try anything on my hair to get it healthy and strong.

1. How to wash your hair
  • There is actually a correct way in which you should wash you hair. Try not to wash your hair every day as it will destroy all your natural oils from your scalp.
  • With your shampoo and conditioner, massage your scalp thoroughly to get rid of all the dirt and grime. If you have a really oily scalp and your hair gets greasy really quickly then repeat the process of massaging your scalp with shampoo and only use conditioner on the ends of your hair, but if you have quite damaged hair then you could run the conditioner through from root to tip and leave it in for a couple of minutes.. When you rub your fingers through your scalp it will increase the blood flow and also helps to prevent dandruff.
  •  If you have hair that is curly or wavy, then try and use a sulphate free shampoo.
  • When rinsing your hair, try and get the water on the coolest setting or to the coldest temperature you can stand.
2. How to dry your hair
  • Try and stay away from hair dryers if you can, its always best to air dry your hair, as it won't get damaged as much as it would if you were to use hair dryers.
  • If you were to use your hair dryer or any other heat devices then always use heat protecting products to protect your hair from getting dry and damaged.
  • Try not to wring you hair with your towel when it is wet, as your hair is more delicate and it could cause your hair to break or fall out.

3. Brushing your hair
  • When your hair is wet it is alot more susceptible to breakage if you were to brush you hair whilst wet. I don't think brushing your hair so many times a day will do your hair any good, i think they say 100 times a day, but i know if i were to do that then i would be bold.
  • I use a wide toothed comb or my fingers and also i use some de-tangling spray which makes it alot easier.  You could also use some leave-in conditioner if you like it, but I'm not a fan as it makes my hair very oily.

4. Give your hair some special TLC
  • You can purchase some good hair treatments for your hair like: Argan Oils, Conditioning Treatment, Coconut Oil, there are many more out there.  After all the blow drying, curling, straightening and mother nature, from time to time you need to treat your hair, maybe 1-2 times a week.

5. Go easy on heat products.
  • Try not to use heat devices on your hair as it will damage your hair.
6. Eat healthy and take vitamin supplements
  • Eating essential fatty acids, especially omega-3 foods like: Salmon, Tuna and other fatty fish.
  • Also some other foods that promote healthy skin, hair and nails are Flax seed oil, Walnuts, Almonds and milk. If your intolerant to dairy or allergic to nuts, then you could try taking some supplements to help you along like: Vitamin B-6, B-12 and Folic Acid.  They are important to your hair.
  • Vitamins are also found in certain foods like: Vitamin B-6, you could eat some bananas, potatoes (both white and sweet)  and spinach. Vitamin B-12, you could eat some meat, poultry, fish and dairy products. Folic Acid, you could eat some tomatoes, whole grain, beans and lentils.
  • Protein is also very good for promoting healthy hair. Eating a daily dose of eggs, soy, chicken and fish, if you like that sort of food.
I hope this information will come in handy for some of you, as it has given me some pointers and hopefully if i carry on with this information that i have heard about over time will work wonders down the line.

Big Smiles
